Metro Success for Well Bred Stratum
Well bred Stratum filly Witless is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily and posted her first metropolitan success at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
The three year old broke her maiden last start at Sale when resuming from a spell and kept up the good work with this stylish win in stronger grade.
She travelled up on the speed and forged clear to win over 1000 metres by more than a length for the new Lee and Anthony Freedman partnership.
Witless has obviously improved with maturity having failed to place in three starts last preparation when tardy from the gates on each occasion.
A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Michael Wallace Bloodstock from the Yarraman Park draft, Witless was bred by Tim Hughes and Ron Dufficy and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Fast Talker.
She is the third winner for Crystal Wit, a stakes-winning half-sister by Distorted Humor (USA) to Group I winner Crystal Lily and stakes-winners Amaethon and Crystal Web.
