John Thompson is coaxing career best from progressive Nicconi mare Nieta, who posted her first metropolitan win at Canterbury on Wednesday.

An easy winner at Wyong when resuming from a spell last month, she raised the bar again when dashing clear for an easy victory in the Benchmark 72 event over 1100 metres as favourite.

A $20,000 Magic Millions purchase for part-owner Greg De Vries from the Holbrook Thoroughbreds draft, Nieta has won three of six starts earning nearly $60,000 in prizemoney.

She is the best of four winners from Brookton Flash, a half-sister to dual Group I winner Sincero.

Nicconi has been in hot form over the winter and has sired 22 winners in the past 30 days.
