Sebring Filly Impresses
Japanese owner Mr Tomohiro Sekiguchi enjoyed much success last season with his slick juvenile Marseille Roulette and he was back in the winner’s circle again at Kembla on Saturday with another Inglis Classic yearling sale purchase in Sebring filly Believe Yourself.
Prepared by Gerald Ryan, the talented filly did too well for her rivals on debut to win the 1000 metre maiden by half a length with five lengths back to the third place-getter.
A $140,000 purchase from the Turangga Farm draft, Believe Yourself was the highest priced filly at the 2013 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and third highest priced overall.
She is the first winner for unraced Private, a half-sister by Encosta de Lago to Group III winner Tully Dane and stakes-winner Mygoodgrace from Group I winner Good Faith.
Private has been a regular visitor to Sebring and has a yearling colt and colt foal also by the Golden Slipper winner.
