Smart South African Winner for Sebring
Australian bred three year old Sebring filly Maayaat continued a great run of success in South Africa for Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell operation when scoring her second win at Turffontein on Saturday.
Prepared by Mike de Kock, Maayaat cruised away from older mares to win over 1600 metres by five and a half lengths as a short priced favourite.
A $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell Australia from the draft of Widden Stud, Maayaat is the first winner for Porto Cervo, a placed three-quarter sister by Danzero to stakes-winner Pinezero.
Porto Cervo has a two year-old colt by Star Witness and a yearling colt by Northern Meteor.
