Smart Winners for Sebring
Well known owner breeders Peter and Wendy Moran featured with a promising winner at Warwick Farm on Wednesday when Sebring colt Yaboroo opened his account for the Joe Pride stable.
Second at his only two previous runs before spelling, Yaboroo was fitted with blinkers for his return and jumped fast for Hugh Bowman to race through and lead on the fence.
A powerful chestnut, he kicked on strongly to the line to win the 1100 metre maiden in good style.
“The blinkers really switched him on and he’s a nice colt going forward,” said Joe Pride.
“We’ve always had a good opinion of him and I would love to think we might end up in Melbourne with him.”
Yaboroo is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Casavana, a Success Express (USA) daughter of Group II winner Alavana.
Success Express, who stood for part of his stud career at the Moran’s former Queensland farm Noble Park Stud, has been an integral part of the success they have achieved over the years.
He is the sire their Group I winner and successful sire Mossman as well as being the sire of their star mare Staging, the dam of Group I winners Excites, Duporth and Group II winner Tickets.
Sebring also had a promising winner at Pakenham where three year-old colt Lizard Island won easily by three lengths.
A homebred for Robert and Deb Anderson, Lizard Island looks to have a bright future and his dam Bourgogne is due to foal to Zoustar.
