Star Witness Filly Books Place in Magic Millions 2YO Classic
Third on debut in the Wyong Magic Millions won by She’s All Class, Star Witness filly Swift Witness will renew rivalries with that daughter of I Am Invincible in the $2million Magic Millions 2yo Classic after thumping her rivals by upwards of three lengths in Saturday’s $125,000 Aquis Gold Pearl Quality (1100m) at the Gold Coast.
One of the best to begin for Glen Boss, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly tended to over-race when she was reined back to third.
Once she found clear air in the straight Swift Witness put the race to bed in a matter of strides bolting clear to win by three lengths over Your Song filly Glorious Ruby.
Swift Witness is a sister to stakes-placed Terminology who finished second in this race in 2017 before winning the $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden 12 months later.
Purchased by her trainers for $260,000 out of the Widden Stud draft at the 2020 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Swift Witness is the fifth foal of the winning Commands mare Taylor’s Special who was purchased for $40,000 by Stallion Racing Partners at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.
Taylor’s Special is a half-sister to the Group II SAJC Queen Of The South Stakes winner So Pristine, the stakes-winner Restored and to the dam of the 2017-18 NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year Dijon Bleu.
The dam of Taylor’s Special, Pristine Kristine is a daughter of the Cure The Blues mare Blue Sage, a half-sister to Theatrical, the Champion Turf Horse in the USA in 1987 and to the multiple Japanese stakes-winner Taiki Blizzard.
The result of Saturday’s race is a great boost for Widden Stud who will offer a full-brother to Swift Witness at the Magic Millions (Lot 871).
Star Witness has been enjoying a great recent run of success with two new stakes-winners in Threeood and Explosive Witness, plus a flurry of smart winners including seven in the past seven days.
