Stellar Weanling Sale for Zoustar
A record breaking best ever Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast this week produced more stellar results for Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar , who had eight weanlings average $348,125 to be the second leading sire by average.
Zoustar had the highest priced weanling sold in the Shadwell Dispersal on Thursday with the colt from Bulbula bought by Rosemont Stud/ Bahen Bloodstock for $700,000 and backed up on Friday with a colt from Fundamentalist that sold for $560,000.
Offered by Segenhoe Stud on behalf of Aquis, the first foal of multiple Group I placed stakes-winner Fundamentalist was bought by Ciaron Maher.
“He’s out of a really tough race mare,” Maher pointed out.
“Fundamentalist – she was The Autumn Sun’s sparring partner. He nabbed her in the JJ Atkins as a two-year-old and then the Randwick Guineas.
“She (Fundamentalist) is a daughter of Not a Single Doubt – a stallion I love and have had a lot of success with and Zoustar is absolutely flying at the moment.
“I’m rapt to get him. We don’t have to worry about a yearling prep for him now, just get him home and grow him out and then he can enter the system, get broken-in early and see where he can take us.”
