Trial Win for Record Priced Star Witness
The most expensive yearling by Star Witness made the right start to public life with a win in the only two-year-old barrier trial at Rosehill on Monday morning.
Eden Roc, trained by Team Hawkes showed good speed from the gate to lead and responded encouragingly in the straight to score a narrow, but stylish win in his 900m trial.
Eden Roc was offered by Widden Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January, making $750,000 to the bid of Alan Bell’s Bury Management.
That made the colt from Hilton Head the most expensive Star Witness to be sold, and by some margin, with $450,000 the next highest which is his three-quarter brother-in-blood Star Turn.
Eden Rock runs in the same interests as Star Turn, who won the Group III ATC San Domenico Stakes last month.
