Two Smart Winners in Two Days for Nicconi
Our promising young sire Nicconi made it two smart winners in as many days when he produced a brilliant debut winner at Gosford on Thursday to follow on from a Canterbury success on Wednesday for the Gai Waterhouse trained Festivity.
Prepared by Rick Worthington, two year-old gelding Nick’s Best was sent out favourite and led throughout to score an impressive three and a quarter length win over 1000 metres.
A $60,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Southern Cross Breeders draft for his trainer and Scone Bloodstock, Nick’s Best was bred by Catherine Remond and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Speedy Leo.
He is the fourth winner from four foals to race from unraced Snippets mare Leonina, who comes from the family of Golden Slipper winner Star Watch.
Nick’s Best is the sixth first crop winner for dual Group I winning sprinter Nicconi, whose fee has been reduced this year to $13,200.
