$450,000 for Star Witness Colt

 In 2014

Our exciting young sire Star Witness saved the best for last at Magic Millions lighting up the Gold Coast sale ring on Saturday night with a stunning colt from stakes-placed Redoute’s Choice mare Pachanga.

Spirited bidding saw the much admired youngster knocked down for $450,000 to James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of long time clients Dr Edmund Bateman and his wife Belinda.

Offered for sale by Glenlogan Park the sensational colt is a half-brother to this season’s stakes-placed two year-old Piacenza from well-related Pachanga, who traces back to influential matriarch Humour.

This is the family of numerous Group I stars and stakes-winners including Champion New Zealand Sire Pins.

James Harron has enjoyed a lot of success in purchasing outstanding individuals for the Batemans and to have this colt singled out as the best of the Star Witness yearlings offered at this sale is a glowing endorsement for his future on the track.

Over the first four premium sessions of the sale, Star Witness had 18 yearlings sell at an average $112,917, his progeny snapped up by all the good judges.

The dual Group I winning son of Starcraft had eight yearlings sell for $100,000 and upwards.

It’s now onwards and upwards for Star Witness, who covered his biggest book of 191 mares in 2013.
