$700,000 Zoustar Colt Tops Shadwell Dispersal
The highly anticipated dispersal of Shadwell Stud bred weanlings at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on Thursday delivered on the hype with 20 youngsters selling for $5,435,000.
Perfectly prepared and presented by Yarraman Park the consignment averaged $271,750 with a colt by Zoustar from stakes- winning Shamardal (USA) mare Bulbula the top seller fetching $700,000 to the bid of Rosemont Stud/ Justin Bahen Bloodstock.
The colt is a half-brother to Group III winning juvenile Aryaaf and his yearling half-brother by Snitzel was sold at Inglis Easter this year for $1.2million to Rosemont Victorian Alliance / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) / David Redvers Bloodstock.
“You’ve got to look in all the markets,” said Rosemont stud’s Anthony Mithen.
“We’re probably the end user for this colt.
“We bought the yearling half brother for $1.2 million and we’ve been holding our breath waiting (for this colt).
“The Snitzel (yearling) has broken in well and impressed the team and it’s a great pedigree – these Shadwell families don’t become available except in these sort of extraordinary circumstances.
“We’ve got a great client of the farm who will race the horse with us – we’re searching far and wide for these good colts and hopefully they can turn into stallions for our farm in Victoria.”
There was high demand for Zoustar weanlings with six sold at an average $329,167 and his next highest price was $550,000 for a filly from Enbihaar what was also offered by Shadwell and bought by Bahen Bloodstock.
