Stakes Quinella for Outreach

The $150,000 Listed Gold Sovereign (1200m) at Launceston on Wednesday was won in dominant fashion by Outreach gelding Turk Warrior.

Trained by Glen Stevenson, Turk Warrior was favourite to keep his undefeated record intact for this Black Type assignment and bolted clear to win by three and half lengths over another Outreach gelding in Outbound with Capitalist filly Miss Tuppence running a good third on debut.

Turk Warrior has won three from three and banked over $180,000 for his lucky owner.

Passed in at the Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Turk Warrior was bred and consigned by Grenville Stud.

He is the best of five winners from stakes-winner Ehor, who also won the Listed Elwick Stakes at two before going on to take the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes as well.

Turk Warrior is the first stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s young Exceed and Excel stallion Outreach, who had yearlings sell for up to $80,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale this week.
