Tawteen Terrific at Moonee Valley
Promising Stratum filly Tawteen scored an easy first up win at Bendigo last month, but confirmed her spring potential with a resounding victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Prepared by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Tawteen led throughout and zipped away in the straight to win the open fillies event over 1200 metres by more than three lengths, her overall record now three wins from four starts with prizemoney just shy of $100,000.
“She was our number one Blue Diamond filly earlier in the year, but kept going shinsore,” revealed David Hayes.
“She’s a very fast, strong filly like a Rewaaya or Gregers, so we’ll keep her to the shorter trips for now and she’ll come back here for the Group II Champagne Stakes in a couple of weeks.”
Tawteen was a $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Widden Stud draft and is the second winner for US Group III winner Sprung (USA), a half-sister by Grand Slam to Group I winner Tali’sluckybusride.
Sprung has a two year-old colt by Star Witness, a yearling full brother to Tawteen.
